Roger Williams NM

This park in downtown Providence marks where Roger Williams established the colony of Rhode Island after leaving the Puritan settlements in Massachusetts after a disagreement over religious freedom.

This historic site was America's largest producer of guns from Civil War times to the 1960s, and now holds the largest display of antique munitions in the world.

Weir Farm NHS

This site in Southwestern Connecticut preserves the home and farm of J. Alden Weir, a New York City Impressionist who moved here in the early part of the 20th Century.

The only disappointment so far is that it appears the Wifi on my laptop is not working, so it seems that I won't be posting my normal trip page until after I get home. New England 2008

Grand Canyon Flight

During my visit during to Grand Canyon National Park in May of 2003, I took a helicopter flight over the canyon. It is one of the coolest excursions I have ever done.

Krakow

This is a building called the Cloth Hall in downtown Krakow, Poland. Krakow is a beautiful city in Southern Poland, with some of the best food I have ever had while traveling.

Home of FDR NHS

This a picture of the main house at the Springwood Estate outside of Hyde Park, New York, which was the main residence of Franklin D. Roosevelt during his later years. Roosevelt's Presidential Library is also on the same sight.

Galveston Seawall

This is a picture of my 6th grade class from Immanuel Lutheran in Houston in 1996. This picture is the students sitting on the seawall in Galveston, the area now being devastated by Hurricane Ike.

Tu Duc Tomb

This picture is from the Tu Duc Tomb outside of Hue, Vietnam. Tu Duc supervised the building of this tomb for himself, and the irony is that he was burried elsewhere in a secret location.

Remembering 9/11

The Top picture of the towers of World Trade Center from our December 1999 visit. The bottom picture is of Keath, Tone and I in Yellowstone on September 11th, 2001. We were oblivious to the incidents of terrorism until after 3 p.m. that day. It gave the day an even more surreal feel because we knew nothing about it until so late in the day.

Jackson Lake

This picture is from Grand Teton National Park in May of 2006. During my previous visit to the park in September of 2001, we found drought conditions, which had left Jackson Lake almost completely dry.

Raiding the Department of the Interior

This is a photo that requires an explanation. In may of 2005, while I was visiting the National Parks of Washington D.C., my dad and I went to the Department of the Interior because I had heard that you could go up to the National Park Office on the Sixth Floor and get the brochures for the National Parks which you can only get by visiting the parks. It would be my guess that most people who do this only take them from a few parks that they want. My Dad and I took one every park that had one available. We got all but 18 of over 350 parks. This picture is of my Dad holding our quarry outside after the visit.

Houseboast Alida

I went to Amsterdam in April of 2001 with my friends Josh & Marc. We rented this houseboat called the Alida in the northern part of the canal ring near the Rijksmuseum. It was a really authentic Amsterdam experience. Having our own kitchen allowed us to save money by shopping for groceries and cooking on our own.

This is how our dogs sit at every meal. They are not begging for me to give them food, it's Janeen that they pull this behavior with. How could you say no to these faces?

San Juan Islands Sunset

This is one of the most beautiful sunset photos I have ever taken. It was on a ferry in the San Juan Islands, north of Seattle, Washington. I was returning to the mainland after spending a day touring two of the islands.

Mark & Sue

These are my friends Mark and Sue Palavestra from Melbourne, Australia. I met them of my Contiki Tour of Eastern Europe during the summer of 1998. When I went to Australia in 2001, I visited them and spent a wild night being shown around Melbourne by them. They are now expecting their second child!

Red Soil of the South

The red soil of the south is my enduring image from trips we made to vosot Grandma and Grandpa in either Florida or South Carolina during my grade school and high school years. I took this picture on a trip on my Florida/Georgia trip in January of 2005, and I used it as the back drop for the trip page.

Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb

On the Fourth day of my Australian Adventure in September of 2001, I climbed to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. There is a copy called Bridge Climb which takes you up to the top while the whole time attached to a static line. The views were amazing, and it was a truly once in a lifetime experience. This excursion was a gift from my sibs for my 29th birthday that August.

Glacier National Park

This photo is from my visit to Glacier National Park in 2005. I was living in Troy, Idaho so we drove over from there. I had been to Glacier in May of 2002, but much of the park was closed due to heavy snow. The highlight of the park is the Going to the Sun Highway, which runs right through the center of the park.
