Wilson's Creek National Battlefield, located just Southwest of Springfield, Missouri, preserves the site of the first major engagement West of the Mississippi River. The resulting Confederate defeat enabled the Union to keep Missouri. The picture above is of the Ray House, which is a reconstruction of a local residence that was converted to a Confederate Hospital on August 10th, 1861, the day of the famous battle.Follow this link for more of my Wilson's Creek NB photos.
