Joshua Tree National Park preserves more than just the tree of the same name, is also encompasses two types of deserts, a higher elevation one and a lower elevation one. The park itself has suffered a large degree of envirmonmental damage and reduction of the once captivating mountains views as a direct result of the pollution which leaks through the San Bernardino Valley and into the park.
